UNFAILING LOVE

As parents, we certainly know how imperfect our love can be toward our children. Sometimes we are just plain tired out and become easily irritated at their noise, their squabbling with a sibling or their ‘childish’ behavior (how else can a child act?)

As a spouse, we also know how imperfect our love can be toward our mate. The attributes which so endeared them to us during courtship often, in later years, become far from endearing. In addition, we find ourselves becoming someone we never intended to be - sometimes with nagging words attached.

Or, as a friend, we know how imperfect our love can be - not only toward our friends but in their attitudes and actions toward us.

Face it, love expressed or received on this planet is far from perfect. We are hurt by others and, in turn, we hurt them.

Two words in Scripture pop up again and again, especially in the Psalms - UNFAILING LOVE. That is the love which God offers us - a perfect, never ending love . . . a love which never becomes irritated, never unkind. That kind of love is always sensitive to our needs . . . and our heart-felt wants. That kind of love fulfills our every longing. That love never fails.

Have you experienced God's UNFAILING LOVE? God offers it freely, abundantly, magnificently to us - if we open our hearts to Him.

Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, Your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord. How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of Your wings. Psalm 36:5-7

Thank You, heavenly Father, that You love me! Consistently and eternally. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen
