DETAILS OF LIFE

Our lives are full of details, aren’t they? At home there is daily upkeep, cooking, cleaning, laundry and a full calendar. Working outside the home brings a myriad of details, too - remembering computer programs, passwords, where objects belong, reports and files. There is an avalanche of details to remember, sort through and act upon.

Why, we ask ourselves, are details so important in the heavenly scheme of things? Apparently God Himself thinks they are important. He sent His own Son into a world where details were important - the world of being a carpenter. Jesus had many details to consider, too - the exact measurement of this or that, precise cutting, proper sanding, pleasing his customers and even sweeping up after a day’s work.

In Scripture we read:

For when Moses was getting ready to build the Tabernacle, God gave him this warning: ‘Be sure that you make everything according to the design I have shown you here on the mountain.’ Hebrews 8:5

Since details were important to God in the past, He certainly is giving us details in our present day lives which we are expected to faithfully oversee and care for, too. Can you think of any in your life?

Heavenly Father, please open my eyes to the details in my life which need attention. Please help me to be faithful in each one You have given me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
