FRESHNESS

Every day throughout the winter months, our neighbors provided their sheep with bales of hay for food. Because of the snow cover, there was no fresh grass upon which to graze that year. Hay, baled from the previous summer, was the next best thing.

As springtime arrived, the snow melted and fresh green shoots - luscious and delicious for sheep - appeared in the pasture. Because the farmer continued to provide bales of hay, the sheep paid no attention to the freshness of green growing grass all around them. Out of habit they continued to eat the next best thing - hay, missing the real thing - green grass.

Are we like those sheep - some habits so ingrained that we never see the new, the fresh and the different which God may have for us?

As Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4

Heavenly Father, please open my eyes to see what else You have for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
