BUSYNESS OR PEACE

Laundry to do . . . guests coming . . . the house to clean . . . special meals to prepare . . . . Sometimes it’s all so overwhelming. We feel the stress mounting and a headache coming on. We know we will not be able to function at all if we aren’t careful.

Then we think of Jesus. While He was on earth, He had an eternity of work to do. He didn’t panic, trying to do it all in a limited amount of time. He did one thing at a time, first withdrawing to a place apart to listen to His Father’s directions.

Especially in busy times, we too need to draw aside to listen to our Father’s voice. If we are listening, we won’t be distracted by a jumble of things to do. Peace will descend upon us and on all we do.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5

Heavenly Father, please help me to prioritize all of those tasks I need to do. Above all, show me what is of eternal priority - my relationship with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
