SOLITARY TRAINING

There is a young man in Michigan who is setting records for his long distance running. Day after day he tries to run longer, faster and better. When asked how he trains, one of the factors he mentioned was that he trains alone.

It seems, for most of us, that God trains us alone, too. Even though two people may walk through the same experience, such as the death of a loved one, God trains each individually until they come out on the other side stronger and more fit. We may be fortunate to have fellow encouragers as we train, but the success or failure is ultimately up to us . . . alone.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us. Hebrews 12:1

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me enough to train me in Your ways. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
