WINTER HIBERNATION

When winter approaches and the weather gets frigid and the days shorten, most of us feel like we want to hibernate. Gone are the days when we zip around the house, cleaning everything in sight, washing curtains, de-cluttering. Now we just want to grab a good book and cuddle down under a warm quilt.

Instead of fighting this impulse to hibernate, perhaps we should listen to it. Maybe this is God’s way of giving rest to our bodies. Instead of feeling guilty for our desire to hibernate, perhaps we should recognize it as another season in our lives. A season in which we can rest.

As surely as spring follows winter, we will again feel energized and be zipping around inside the house and outside in the garden . . . when it is time.

For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Heavenly Father, please help me to honor all of the seasons You give me in my life - the busy seasons as well as the quiet ones. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Well I just clicked on your blog, having found it and it looks to be quite inspiring! My favorite book is also the Bible. And those lovely photos of the snow I live near Palm Springs and while we have had snow on the nearby mountains, it has been melting as it has been in the high 70s and low 80s! God bless your blog.
