REPITITION

Have you ever wondered why we must do the same tasks over and over again? Think about it! Haven’t you noticed that after you sweep the kitchen floor, someone WILL walk in with mud on his or her shoes? Now, this is not a grumbling complaint . . . just a fact of life. Or after you finish washing dishes, someone WILL dirty a glass as they need a drink of water. Or after shoveling the snow, the plow trucks comes by which means you must shovel again to get the car out of the driveway.

Yes, doing some tasks again and again seems just a part of life - making beds, changing diapers, wiping runny noses on little faces, cooking meals, cleaning out refrigerators, polishing shoes, washing clothes. The list is endless.

Maybe, just maybe, those often repeated tasks are some of THE most important work we will ever do. Maybe that’s why God says:

. . . whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
I Corinthians 10:31

Heavenly Father, please keep me from seeking to do only the flashy, news-worthy tasks. Help me do every task as if it were the most important task in the universe. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
