FAMILIARITY

Have you ever traveled to a place where nothing was familiar? It seems such an effort to get anywhere, as we have to constantly peer at the maps, turning it this way and that, trying to get our bearings.

The one way streets always seem to be going in the wrong direction. Unfamiliar restaurants and motels loom on unfamiliar streets. When a bridge to cross the river is found, it is the wrong bridge. Being unfamiliar with the days and times which businesses are open, the shops are found to be closed. Activities are canceled due to unusual circumstances, something with which there is no familiarity. After a few days, we can become quite weary of the effort, longing for some sort of familiarity.

Once home again, we marvel at the comfort and ease which familiarity brings. We are reminded that God, our heavenly Father is familiar, such a comfort, because, as Scripture says, He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

May we come to know Him, thankful that He is always the same - kind, caring, just, loving. He is easily recognized.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

Heavenly Father, thank You that I can get to know You, that You have become familiar to me, easily recognized by Your loving ways toward me. In Jesus’ name.
