OLD AGE

If we are to believe television commercials, newspaper articles and the literature from our doctor’s offices, we are in trouble. As we approach ‘old age’ we are told that our arteries will be clogged, our bones will deteriorate, our hearts will be weak, our memories will be missing and on and on. It’s enough to scare us so that the later years in life are looked upon with dread.

How does God want us to look at ‘old age’?

But the godly will flourish . . . and grow strong. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. They will declare, “The Lord is just! He is my rock! There is nothing but goodness in Him.” Psalm 92:13-15

Yes, let’s heed the common sense warnings so we care for these bodies to the glory of God. Let’s also, however, focus on and believe what God tells us in scripture about ‘old age’. After all, He has our lives all mapped out for each of us right to our very last day on earth. We can believe what He says!

Heavenly Father, I choose to believe You about my future and look forward in anticipation to what You have planned for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
