Have you ever noticed that the most important jobs in the world often bring little or no financial remuneration?
For example, parents are on duty and on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Yet I don’t know of one parent, worldwide, who has ever received a paycheck for doing one of the most important jobs to maintain our civilization.
Or look at the high school class secretary who yearly helps plan her high school reunion and publishes a newsletter enabling classmates to keep in touch with one another and their hometown. Her paycheck is non-existent.
Another example is the lady who mops floors in hospital rooms who gets paid minimum wage, yet has the ear of the King as she prays for those with whom she comes in contact through her days.
As we know, the true work done in this world is usually done behind the scenes and is not usually recognized by the world. Yet, in the eyes of God, because He gave that particular work to that particular person, it is of eternal significance.
What is it that you do in your life which has tremendous value in the sight of God?
Lord, when did we see Thee hungry and feed Thee, or thirsty and give Thee to drink? And when did we see Thee a stranger and welcome Thee, or naked and clothe Thee? And the King will answer them, “Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to Me." Matthew 25:37-40
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the work You give me to do day to day. Please help me to be faithful to the task. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
