Have you every found yourself drawing back from people, trying to protect yourself from being inconvenienced . . . again? You receive a call to babysit a neighbor’s child on top of an already overly busy day - you want to run and hide. Your elderly parent calls upon you once again to run out to the store for an item she forgot to pick up - you want to scream in frustration. Your boss needs something done NOW on top of all of the other things he wants done NOW. What do you do?
First, let’s pray and ask God to protect us from the snare of too many requests from too many people.
Second, let’s ask God to give us wisdom, for those requests which do come our way, to know when and how He wants us to serve and when to be still.
There is a fine line between those things we are to do and those we are to leave alone. The dividing line is obedience to God. As we listen to His wisdom, we won’t need to try to protect ourselves from doing too much. God, Himself, will protect us as we walk in obedience Him.
The Lord your God who goes before you will Himself fight for you. Deuteronomy 1:30
Heavenly Father, please protect me from the evil one’s snare of busyness. Please give me Your wisdom in each situation I encounter through my day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
