KNOW HOW TO HELP
In order to make room for a desk that friends had given us, my daughter found that she had to re-arrange and de-clutter some areas of her room to make space for it. As is often the case, a bigger mess was created in the process. I wanted to jump right in to help but decided to keep my hands off, watch the situation prayerfully and offer help only if she asked.
How often we see others get themselves in predicaments - overscheduled calendars from poor prioritizing or poor life choices with dire consequences. Our tendency is to jump in to help them. How much wiser it would be if we prayerfully considered how our heavenly Father would like us to help. Sometimes the best kind of help He wants to offer is that of prayerfully stepping back.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God who gives to all men generously and without reproaching and it will be given him. James 1:5
Heavenly Father, please give me the wisdom to know when to jump in to help others and when to prayerfully stand back. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
