WHOSE BODY IS IT?
Streams in the Desert, a devotional book from the 1920s states: “Get serious with God about your body. It is as much His residence as it is yours. Recognize that He really owns it, not you….”
How surprising it was to read those words! Yes, most of us may think that our bodies are a tool God has given us to use for His glory. But to think that our bodies actually belong to Him seems an amazing thought.
If that concept is true, where can it be found in Scripture? There it is in I Corinthians in black and white.
Maybe it’s time for us to reconsider how we treat the bodies God has loaned to us. It seems evident that He would want us to take excellent care of them and use them wisely until He receives them back to Himself.
You are not your own; you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. I Corinthians 6:19-20
Heavenly Father, please show me how best to nourish and use the body You have loaned to me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
