A LESSON LEARNED

Ella, a fairly new believer in Jesus, was visiting a friend and her family in another state. Rising late, Ella noticed a sink full of breakfast dishes. The bowls seemed to be set in oatmeal cement. Ella debated with herself. She knew her friend had her hands full with two toddlers and a new baby. Should she do those dishes or not? She decided it was her friend’s problem, not hers, and went off to find some other tasks to do.

A year later, Ella found herself in her friend’s home again. Having matured in the faith over the previous year, when she was faced again with a sink full of oatmeal-caked bowls, she promptly rolled up her sleeves and began work.

Isn’t it amazing how, when faced with a test which we fail, God will bring us back to that exact same lesson again and again until we learn what he has for us?

For you were called to freedom . . . only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love be servants of one another. Galatians 5:13

Heavenly Father. Thank You for Your patience. Please help me to learn quickly and well those lessons You send to me for my benefit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
