MORE AND MORE...
When Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown into the fiery furnace in Nebuchadnezzer's day (see Daniel 3:8-27), do you ever think about what they must have been feeling? Dread, anxiety, fear, panic? Of course, they probably did. They were human. They, like us, had human emotions. When we are faced with a fiery trial, we also initially may feel dread, anxiety, fear…and then we are reminded that GOD GIVES MORE AND MORE GRACE AND PEACE in any circumstance in which we find ourselves…as we come to know progressively and more intimately our heavenly Father's loving care and His Son, Jesus.
It doesn't say in God's Word that God gives us more and more anxiety, fear, dread and panic as we face our own fiery furnaces. No, GOD GIVES MORE AND MORE GRACE AND PEACE…even in the midst of difficult circumstances, day by day.
Do you remember Daniel in the lion's den? He was placed right in there with them. Being human, he must have felt tremendous fear. (See Daniel 6:19-23). God gave Him MORE AND MORE GRACE AND PEACE even while he was in that place.
As the year draws to a close, what is it that YOU fear and dread? Is your anxiety building with every passing day or can you accept the fact that God will give you MORE AND MORE GRACE AND PEACE as you come to know Him, your Maker, as you stand in the furnace and walk right past the lions?
My prayer for each of us as we enter this season: MAY GOD GIVE YOU MORE AND MORE GRACE AND PEACE. May you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
