We have five loaves of bread and two fish….
Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and asked God's blessing on the food. Breaking the loaves into pieces, He kept giving the bread and fish to the disciples to give the people. They all ate as much as they wanted and they picked up twelve baskets of leftover bread and fish. Five thousand men had eaten from those five loaves. Mark 6:38-44
Sometimes, don't you feel like you are running on empty? There seems to be no more energy to complete the task, project, class or day. There seems to be no more love to pour out. Your patience is worn thin. You don't know what to do about a situation. You are on empty.
Yet this account of Jesus feeding the five thousand with an abundance left over just screams to us - take what little you have of energy, time, resources, love, patience….as you use it, He will multiple it!
God doesn't want us to just squeak by, He wants who we are and what we do to be overflowing in His abundance.
As spring arrives, let's take the little we have and are and ask God to multiply it so that it overflows as a blessing to others. As we do so, we will be in awe of God, a God of abundance.
Heavenly Father, please nudge me in the direction of giving my little. Please open my eyes to see how you abundantly multiply it. In Jesus' name. Amen.
